Swimming pools can be used for more than just doing laps, too! There are many different and unique exercises that you can try out in your swimming pool this summer to get your blood pumping and help you enjoy the warm weather to the fullest!
The Seahorse. The Seahorse exercise is performed by standing up straight and holding a pool noodle in front of you. From there, you dive forward, leading with your noodle until you are horizontal against the water’s surface. This is similar to a plank position, only with your arms fully extended and grasping the noodle. Bend at the hips and knees while drawing your knees into your chest, afterwards placing your feet on the pool floor.
Jumping Jacks. Although jumping jacks are usually done on dry land, you can also perform them in your swimming pool. In fact, the pool can be an ideal place for jumping jacks, as the water places more pressure on your body, making this exercise a little bit more difficult and much more effective. Simply stand with your legs together and your arms down by your sides, and jack your arms and legs back and forth as you would on land. The more advanced mode of this exercise is done without touching the pool’s bottom.
Cross Country Ski. This exercise is performed by mimicking the movement of a cross country skier. You move one leg behind you while moving the other leg to the front, letting your arms make the opposite motion. This exercise helps with working out your lower body and with spinal rotation.
